Engineering Shift Manager
Engineering Shift Manager – Panama Shift Pattern (18:00–06:00)
We are looking for an Engineering Shift Manager to join our Manufacturing Operation in Bradford.
About the Role
The responsibilities of the Engineering Shift Manager are critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities

Minimizing Machinery Downtime
- Proactively managing proactive and predictive maintenance
- Ensuring rapid response to machinery breakdowns
- Maintaining equipment reliability to uphold production schedules

Improving Performance
- Continuously identifying opportunities to enhance equipment efficiency without compromising quality
- Optimizing processes, implementing upgrades, or using data-driven improvements

Engineer Engagement
- Fostering a motivated and innovative engineering team
- Providing training, development opportunities, and recognizing achievements

Asset Care Programme
- Leading and supporting Morrisons' Asset Care Programme
- Implementing strategies to extend asset life, reduce maintenance costs, and promote best practices

Hands-On Approach
- Actively participating in equipment repairs and optimizations to set a positive example
- Ensuring prompt issue resolution

Maintenance Coordination
- Aligning maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team to avoid production disruptions
- Efficiently planning and executing maintenance activities

Crisis Incident Management
- Handling accidents, emergencies, and near misses effectively
- Conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions to maintain safety

Discipline and Grievance Handling
- Enforcing clear discipline and grievance procedures
- Addressing team issues to maintain operational standards
About You
To excel in this role, you should posses the following:

Qualifications – NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in:
- ONC Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Industry Experience – Proven track record in:
- Engineering and fault-finding, ideally within FMCG (Food/Beverage industry)
- People management & team leadership, with a record of delivering strong results

Safety & Certification – A strong understanding of:
- HACCP principles
- IEE qualifications (up to 18th edition wiring regulations)

Soft Skills –
- Excellent communication skills
- Assertiveness & decision-making under pressure
- Can-do attitude & strong work ethic
