About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Engineering support technician to join our team in Knaresborough working within our purpose-built on-site Electronics repair laboratory and PSU manufacture facility. You will be part of a cutting-edge electronics engineering company that operates in a privileged niche market sector offering:

  • High quality DC power supply (PSU) servicing, repair, and replacements.
  • Custom low volume PSU design and build.
  • Manufacture of ultra-high reliability DC power solutions.

Quality and ethics are paramount in our organisation, and we have an enviable B2B client base spanning 24 years.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assisting Electronics Engineers in the repair and refurbishment a variety of industrial electronic equipment down to component level.
  • Replace defective components and carry out soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Test equipment after repairs to verify correct operation and compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Assemble electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and finished products according to work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Perform soldering tasks and basic wiring assembly.
  • Assist with assembly of in house designed new Power supply Units including testing, calibration and documentation of results.
  • Completion of electronic documentation such as build instructions and repair reports.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet daily production schedules and customer deadlines.

Compliance and Safety

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and standards.

  • Participate in regular safety training as required.

Role Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous workplace experience in electronics.
  • Must have a good understanding of basic analogue electronics and components.
  • Highly competent hand soldering and reworking skills, including small SMD components.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Familiarity with basic test and measurement equipment.
  • Good level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and processes.
  • A ‘continuous improvement’ mindset.

Desirable:

  • A minimum of 2 years in an electronics repair/service role.
  • GCSE or A-Level Grade ‘C’ in Electronics/Physics/Math’s or a Technical ONC/HNC qualification.
  • An appreciation of various switch power supply conversion techniques.
