Engineering Surveyor
Engineering Surveyor – Murphy Applied Engineering (Golborne Office)
About the Role
Murphy is recruiting for an Engineering Surveyor to work with Murphy Applied Engineering based out of our Golborne Office, with nationwide travel required.
Our engineering teams drive multi-disciplined expertise (civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineering) across all our sectors, pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation, and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Under Murphy Applied Engineering, our in-house teams specialise in designing both permanent and temporary works for projects nationwide. We provide trusted expert advice to both Murphy colleagues and external customers.
A Day in the Life
- Install and verify site control networks
- Conduct topographical surveys and setting out activities
- Perform terrestrial laser scanning and manage point cloud data
- Support utility survey teams with data capture, Quality Assurance (QA), and coordination
- Maintain clear, accurate field records and documentation
Key Responsibilities (Sample Duties)
- Deploy cutting-edge surveying techniques across projects
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and specialty contractors
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
- Provide timely updates and reporting to stakeholders

What We’re Looking for
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- GNSS equipment
- Total stations
- Laser scanners
- Proficiency in survey software, including:
- N4CE, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre, Leica Cyclone
- UAV experience (specialising in LiDAR and/or photogrammetry)
- Knowledge of machine control systems and earthworks volume management
- Exceptional communication and liaison skills with various project teams
