Engineering Team Leader - Rugby

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Team Leader to join our fast-paced operation in Rugby. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in leading the engineering team, ensuring maximum equipment availability, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with all relevant engineering and safety legislation. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys leading by example, solving complex technical challenges, and developing high-performing teams within a dynamic operational environment.

Shift Pattern:

12-hour shifts on a rotating 2-on, 2-off, then 3-on, 3-off pattern across a 14-day cycle

What You'll Be Doing:

As Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and support the engineering team, ensuring work is planned, prioritised, and completed safely and efficiently.
  • Manage shift handovers and communicate equipment faults to the appropriate teams.
  • Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders to minimise disruption and maximise performance.
  • Maintain accurate engineering, compliance, and service records.
  • Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Manage critical spare parts stock and support procurement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering procedures, safety standards, risk assessments, and company policies.
  • Coach, develop, and support engineering team members.
  • Provide operational support across shifts and conduct contractor inductions when required.
  • Deliver departmental KPIs, objectives, and performance targets

What you’ll bring:

  • Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, ONC, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience).
  • Previous team leader or supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Experience within an industrial or automated engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Siemens S7 PLCs, Profibus, Profinet, AS-i networks, PLC/SCADA systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills, including the use of technical drawings and test equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Professional, safety-focused, and able to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
