The Role
Our new Engineering Team Leader will play a vital role in ensuring our manufacturing site operates safely, efficiently and reliably. Whether your background is as an Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Team Leader, Shift Engineering Supervisor, Multi-Skilled Engineering Team Leader or Maintenance Supervisor, this is an excellent opportunity to combine hands-on engineering expertise with leadership responsibility in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll act as the first point of contact for the engineering team during your shift, working closely with Production and Site Management to deliver operational excellence.
Your Key Responsibilities
The successful Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for leading maintenance activities, supporting the engineering team and ensuring equipment reliability by:
- Leading and supervising the engineering team throughout the shift.
- Planning, allocating and monitoring engineering workloads to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
- Using the CMMS system to manage planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and fault finding.
- Ensuring plant, machinery and site services are maintained to company standards and ready for production start-up.
- Coordinating machine installations, relocations and equipment set-ups.
- Managing contractors on site, including permit-to-work activities and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Building strong working relationships with Production and attending daily operational meetings to communicate engineering priorities.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers to support both individual and team performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
