About the Role
At Pilgrim’s Europe, we deliver business success through our people — and our Engineering teams are at the heart of that success. We’re searching for a hands-on Engineering Team Leader to lead and develop a shift team of Engineers at our Ashbourne site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, multi-skilled engineer who is ready to step into (or further develop within) a leadership role within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and develop shift Engineers, including Apprentices
- Drive breakdown reduction and deliver Preventative and Predictive Maintenance (PPM) effectively
- Champion Marel PMS service kits for scheduled works
- Ensure full compliance with engineering, safety, and environmental legislation
- Oversee shift maintenance, installations, and contractor management
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Food Safety & Quality, Hygiene, Health & Safety, and HR
- Manage engineering stores and working capital
- Coordinate holiday planning and overtime with fellow Team Leaders
- Identify energy-saving opportunities and support the company’s environmental targets
- Ensure that risk assessments are completed, up to date, and adhered to
- Maintain and uphold high GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards

This role demands a balance of technical expertise, team development, and operational delivery, ensuring engineering and operational excellence.
Essential Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified Time-Served Apprentice with a Level 3 Qualification in relevant engineering discipline
- Multi-skilled Engineer with expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled environments and relevant systems
- In-depth understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), Food Safety, Health & Safety (H&S), and environmental standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks and perform under pressure
- Strong organisational skills, pragmatism, and proactive mindset
