Engineering Technician

About The Role As a Engineering Technician

We are recruiting a proactive and organised Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team based at Reading college. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical teaching by ensuring our workshops, equipment and learning environments are safe, well maintained and fully equipped.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide technical support across our Engineering workshops, helping learners develop their practical skills while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

This is a full time (37 hours per week), permanent contract.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Level 3 Qualification (or above) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working within an engineering workshop or similar environment.
  • A good understanding of engineering equipment, machinery and workshop practices.
  • Proven experience of work within a professional Engineering environment.
  • Experience of working with and developing the skills and behaviours of young people
  • Experience maintaining tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience of stock control, ordering materials and managing workshop resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and students.
  • Confidence supporting learners during practical activities, although you will not be expected to teach or deliver lessons independently.
  • A positive, flexible and proactive approach with a commitment to providing an outstanding learning environment.
