Engineering Technician
Building Engineering | Milton Keynes (Hybrid)
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and collaborative Engineering Technician to join our Building Engineering team in Milton Keynes. Working closely with structural engineers and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of:
- New-build structural designs
- Structural investigations
- Coordinated engineering solutions
Across:
- Residential developments
- Public sector projects
- Commercial schemes
This role offers a dynamic and rewarding technical environment where you will develop your skills while contributing to high-quality project delivery.
Purpose and Scope of the Role
You will support the structural engineering team in producing:
- Accurate and coordinated design models
- Drawings
- Technical outputs
for a range of building engineering projects, spanning:
- New-build design
- Structural assessments of existing structures
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Creating and updating structural and civil engineering models in Revit and AutoCAD
- Collating technical documentation (e.g., drawings, 3D models, survey records)
- Supporting document control, delivery pipelines, and revised drawing registers
- Ensuring outputs align with:
- Project requirements
- Industry standards
- Internal quality expectations
Working Across Projects
Your role will involve close collaboration with engineers specialising in:
- Timber design
- Steel design
- Concrete structures
- Masonry
New-Build Deliverables:
- Low to medium-rise residential developments such as:
- Apartment blocks
- Townhouses
- Mixed-use schemes
- Preparation of:
- Structural layouts
- General arrangements
- Detail sections

Existing-Building Projects:
- Structural investigations and adaptations of existing structures
- Organising and documenting:
- Survey findings
- Engineering guidance
- Translating technical requirements into clear, detailed drawings
Technical Responsibilities and Digital Delivery
- Central role in digital project delivery:
- Revit and AutoCAD modelling
- Coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Ensuring digital documentation reflects engineering intent
- Supporting the structured flow of design information
- Building registers
- Drawing distribution
- Applying sound technical judgement with growing experience
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborative and supportive team environment
- Must communicate clearly both:
- Verbal
- Written
- Engage effectively with key project stakeholders:
- Colleagues
- Architects
- MEP engineers
- Fire specialists
- Actively participate in project technical discussions and improved workflows
Professional Development and Progression
- Access to accredited training pathways with:
- ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers)
- IStructE (Institution of Structural Engineers)
- Current progression toward Engineering Technician (EngTech) status
- Structured learning and mentoring framework under direct career development programs
Requirements
- Experience working as an engineering or Revit technician within the built environment
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- HND certification or equivalent work experience
- Competence in Microsoft Office tools
- Self-motivated
- Proactive team player
- Ability to work autonomously when necessary
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
