Role Description
The English and Maths Trainer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Nottingham, with some flexibility to work from home. The trainer will plan and deliver engaging English and Maths sessions for apprentices and study program learners, using a range of teaching methods and resources to address different learning styles and levels. The trainer will track and record learner achievement, prepare learners for functional skills assessments, and maintain accurate documentation in line with quality and funding requirements. The role also involves:
- Collaborating with colleagues and employers
- Participating in standardisation and quality improvement activities
- Contributing to the continuous enhancement of teaching materials and learning resources
Qualifications
- Strong skills in teaching and assessing English and Maths, with the ability to deliver functional skills or equivalent qualifications at various levels.
- Experience in lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and adapting teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in learner progress tracking, recordkeeping, and using learning management systems or digital tools to support teaching and assessment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and support adult learners and apprentices.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, PGCE, or equivalent) and functional skills or GCSE-level qualifications in English and Maths.
- Experience within apprenticeships, vocational training, or work-based learning environments is highly beneficial.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to safeguarding learners in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.
