English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Full-Time September 2026 Start Mainstream Primary School Barking

Are you a high-achieving English Graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching?

A welcoming and ambitious mainstream primary school in Barking is seeking a dedicated English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time position is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about literacy, language development, and education.

The Role

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping to raise attainment in reading, writing, phonics, and communication skills.

  • Delivering literacy interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Supporting pupils with reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and comprehension.
  • Assisting with phonics sessions and early literacy development.
  • Supporting pupils who require additional academic support.
  • Helping children develop confidence in communication and language skills.
  • Assisting teachers in preparing engaging literacy resources and activities.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
