Derby College Group (DCG)
Derby College Group (DCG) is seeking dedicated and inspiring Teachers of English to join our Study Programme English team. In this role, you will deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to our students, helping them to develop confidence, make progress, and achieve their full potential.
The College operates across several campuses, including The Roundhouse, The Joseph Wright Centre, and Broomfield Hall, and this role may be based at any of these sites.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting chance to become part of a vibrant, supportive team dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience. You will deliver engaging teaching, learning, and assessment that supports students from a wide range of educational backgrounds, helping them progress confidently into further study, apprenticeships, or employment.
You will apply effective behaviour management strategies and work collaboratively across multiple curriculum areas, contributing positively to the wider student journey.
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a passion for English education. You should have experience teaching GCSE English (91) and ideally Functional Skills English. Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, along with confidence in using IT to support teaching and learning. You will hold at least a Level 3 qualification in English, with a relevant degree being desirable. A recognised Level 5 or Level 6 teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or CertEd, is required, or you should be willing to work towards this. Above all, you will bring flexibility, innovation, and a positive approach to supporting learners to achieve their goals.
