Full Job Description

Job Title: English Teacher

Location: Ashley Park School, Epsom, Surrey KT18 7LR

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £44,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: July 2026

We are seeking an exceptional English Teacher to join our dedicated multi-professional team, delivering high-quality, personalised education to students with diverse and often complex needs. This is a role where your impact is immediate, meaningful and deeply rewarding.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for individuals and small groups, following our curriculum framework and adapting to each student’s needs.
  • Monitor, record and report on progress, ensuring every student’s achievements are recognised and next steps are clear.
  • Create a stimulating learning environment, organising resources, displays and groupings to support literacy development.
  • Develop personalised plans, including IEPs and behaviour plans, in collaboration with colleagues to ensure consistent support.
  • Lead on English across key stages, coordinating teaching, assessment and curriculum development as agreed with the Headteacher.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour, helping them move from external regulation to developing self-control and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff and other departments, ensuring a consistent approach between school and home.
  • Safeguard every student, promoting their wellbeing, safety and personal development at all times.

About Us

Ashley Park School is a brand-new independent specialist school in Epsom, Surrey, for autistic young people aged 5–19, with a capacity for 60 pupils. We provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Personalised teaching, differentiated lessons, and tailored therapeutic support ensure each pupil’s unique needs and abilities are met.

Our curriculum combines academic study, vocational pathways, and life skills, preparing young people to achieve their full potential and future aspirations.

For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
