SEN / SEMH Teacher – English Teaching - Alternative Education
Locations: Sunderland
Pay: M1-M6
Are you a passionate and resilient educator looking to make a genuine difference outside of the mainstream classroom?
Education World is working in partnership with an alternative provision to recruit dedicated English teacher to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in an alternative setting.
These roles involve working with students who are currently out of mainstream education, providing tailored academic and pastoral support to help re-engage them with learning.
The Role
As a Teacher, You Will
- Deliver English lessons to learners age 9-16
- Support students with SEN and/or SEMH needs, adapting your approach accordingly
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to support ongoing development
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, and external professionals

What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or vulnerable learners
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
- A genuine passion for supporting young people who need an alternative approach to education
