Role Description
The English Teacher is a full-time, hybrid role based in Rochester, with a balance of on-site teaching and some work from home for planning, assessment and administrative tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging English lessons to learners across various key stages
- Designing and adapting lesson plans
- Providing individualized support to help students prepare for exams such as the 11 Plus, GCSEs and A Levels
- Assessing student progress
- Giving constructive feedback
- Maintaining clear communication with families, schools and other stakeholders
The role involves collaborating with the wider Myrtle Learning team to develop curricula, contribute to mentoring and study skills programs, and ensure that each learner’s needs are met in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications
- Strong English Teaching and Teaching skills, with experience delivering curriculum-aligned lessons to diverse learners
- Solid Lesson Planning and Education skills, including the ability to design differentiated, learner-centered activities and assessments
- Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to build trust and clarity with students, families, schools and colleagues
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent) and a degree in English, Education or a related field are highly beneficial
- Experience supporting learners with varying needs, including SEND, and a commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed and student-focused practice are advantageous
- Strong organisational skills, reliability in a hybrid working model, and familiarity with digital tools for remote teaching and progress tracking are beneficial
