A high-achieving secondary school in Newham is seeking an ambitious English Teacher to join its successful English department from September 2026 on a full-time contract until July 2027, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful placement.
The school has built an excellent reputation for academic progress and literacy development, with English consistently achieving GCSE outcomes above national averages. - Inner London salary: £40,317–£62,496 (MPS/UPS)
- Daily equivalent: £206.68–£320.49 inclusive of holiday pay
- Full academic year contract until July 2027 with permanent opportunities available

The Role
You will teach English across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire a lifelong appreciation of literature while developing reading, analytical and extended writing skills. You will use assessment effectively to identify learning gaps, contribute to intervention programmes and support students in achieving excellent GCSE outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate
- Holds UK QTS and an English-related degree
- Strong subject knowledge across Language and Literature
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Passionate about raising attainment and promoting literacy across the school
