English Teacher Haringey September 2026
An outstanding, university-focused sixth form in Haringey is seeking an exceptional English Teacher to join their highly regarded faculty from September 2026. This is a permanent English Teacher role within a sixth form college rated Outstanding by Ofsted, celebrated for its transformative approach to post-16 education and its remarkable record of placing students from diverse backgrounds into the country's most competitive universities.
About the School
This Haringey sixth form serves a cohort of highly motivated, academically ambitious students drawn from across North London - many of whom will be the first in their family to attend university. English is taught at A-Level with genuine intellectual rigour, encouraging students to engage critically and independently with literature and language in ways that prepare them not just for examinations but for the demands of degree-level study. The ethos here is unashamedly aspirational - every English Teacher is expected to know their students deeply, stretch them relentlessly, and champion their potential without exception. Oxbridge and Russell Group university preparation is embedded into the fabric of the curriculum, and the results speak for themselves.
What the School Offers
- A sixth form environment where every English Teacher works exclusively with motivated, post-16 students committed to academic excellence
- Strong university guidance infrastructure, with staff actively involved in UCAS, personal statement, and interview preparation
- A collegiate staff culture built around scholarship, high expectations, and genuine pride in student outcomes
- Structured CPD with access to university partnerships and subject-specific academic development opportunities
- A school where the ambition of the students will push you to be a better teacher every single day

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
