Job Overview
This role is for the Enhanced Practice lead of MS service (Brams).
This role will manage caseloads of patients, providing intervention as part of a designated pathway.
Registered professional working at an enhanced level is expected to be able to manage discrete activities in complex, challenging and changing situations and environments. They should also be confident to seek further guidance when they reach the boundaries of their competence.
Utilise the four pillars of practice (Clinical Practice, Education, Research and Leadership) to support the delivery of the Trust objectives through behaviours which demonstrate the Trust Values. To note, this level is largely clinically focused and is NOT underpinned by an MSc in Advanced Practice, though candidates with an MSc in Advanced Practice are still able to work at this level.
This role will involve autonomous, independent clinical practice, as well as senior leadership for this in the department working in enhanced practice roles.
The post holder will act as a senior healthcare professional within the MS service (Brams) and provide senior support to the Enhanced Practitioner workforce in Bristol Brain Centre, and be identifiable, highly visible, and accessible to patients, carers and staff for assistance advice and support.
Main duties of the job
The practitioner must have the ability to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using enhanced clinical judgement and evidence-based decision-making. Practitioners are expected to manage complex situations, initiate and adjust treatments (including prescribing where appropriate), and interpret diagnostic investigations.

They are responsible for managing risk, maintaining professional standards, working within their scope of practice, and being accountable for their clinical decisions. Self-awareness, reflection, and recognising personal limitations are key aspects of safe practice.
Additionally, the role includes acting as a clinical leader and role model, contributing to service development, ensuring infection control, and applying specialist knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to their field.
