Core Mission
- Provide methodologies, frameworks, and tools to support business-transformation.
- Mature the EA capability in alignment with the CTO Office to establish a federated EA function with high strategic impact.
Role Summary
Senior Enterprise Architect is a compelling opportunity to shape technology strategy at a global scale. As the custodian of Application & Technology domains within the EA team, your responsibilities include:
- Defining the application and technology architecture to ensure alignment with business and data domain initiatives, such as the Integrated Value Chain program.
- Managing and leading architecture governance in your domains.
- Facilitating strategic cross-functional alignment between KPMG International’s business and technology, driving transformational change through architecture.
- Serving as the primary contact for EA initiatives in your domains (both KPMG Global and within our member firms), integrating these efforts into a unified architectural landscape.
Your responsibilities range from owning and evolving the Technology Blueprint (a critical framework for KPMG’s governance) to horizon scanning for emerging technologies.
As a member of a small yet high-impact team, you will:
- Play an active role in building and maturing the global EA function within KPMG, fostering best practices and team culture.
- Engage closely with senior business and technology leadership, accelerating EA and driving innovation.
Based in the Netherlands, your work will connect primarily with stakeholders across UK/EU, US East Coast, and India, requiring collaboration across timezones.
Key Accountabilities
As part of this role, you will:
- Oversee and contribute to the development and enforcement of architecture standards, frameworks, and compliance for the Application & Technology domains.
- Develop and maintain the Technology Blueprint, ensuring it reflects current best practices and supports KPMG’s enterprise-wide objectives.
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to align KPMG’s technology strategy with strategic business goals.
- Facilitate strong relationships with member firm enterprise architects, ensuring effective implementation of the Technology Blueprint and IT strategy.
- Support EA communications, delivery, and capability development across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement in EA practices, including innovation and reduction of technical debt.
Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will be equipped with:
Education & Technical Expertise
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in enterprise architecture, computer science, information systems, or engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture and IT, with deep proficiency in:
- Architecture modelling, capability-based planning, and governance.
- Translating business strategy into actionable technology roadmaps.
- Software development practices, including programming, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
- A practical understanding of regulatory frameworks, such as GDPR, ISO27001, ISO42001, and financial regulations.
- Cloud computing and cloud-native architectures, including Azure, GCP, AWS, and Microsoft 365 (certified advantage).
- Experience with OAuth, OpenID Connect, security standards, and performance-tuning.

Certifications & Tools
- Certifications in:
- TOGAF & Archimate (preferred).
- Cloud solutions or leadership in enterprise architecture.
- Command of EA tooling, including OrbusInfinity, LeanIX, or BiZZDesign, supported by hands-on experience.
Professional Experience & Skills
- An established track record as a senior enterprise architect in large enterprises, demonstrating:
- Leadership in complex architecture domains, such as Application & Technology strategising.
- Proven ability to engage business stakeholders and drive strategic alignment.
- Understanding of evolving in federated organizations with multiple stakeholders and governance models.
- Familiarity with:
- Agile and DevOps practices (SAFe, Scrum).
- Federated governance, standards, and compliance approaches to ensure interoperability and alignment of multiple hierarchies.
