Enterprise Architect (Subcontract) – Defence & Secure Technology
Location: UK Hybrid
Contract: Subcontract | Initial 11 months (extension options available)
Security Clearance: UK SC Clearance required
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join a complex and highly secure technology programme supporting digital transformation, operational capability development, cyber resilience, and secure technology adoption.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior architect to provide strategic and technical leadership across enterprise architecture, helping shape secure, resilient, and future-ready technology environments.
The successful candidate will work across business, operational, information, application, security, infrastructure, and integration architecture domains, supporting the development of enterprise-wide architecture strategies and solutions within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve enterprise architecture principles, standards, governance models, and architecture frameworks.
- Develop enterprise architecture artefacts including target architectures, transition states, technology roadmaps, and architecture decision records.
- Provide architectural leadership across:
- Business architecture
- Application architecture
- Data architecture
- Security architecture
- Infrastructure architecture
- Integration architecture
- Support secure-by-design engineering practices and cyber resilience initiatives.
- Evaluate technology options and provide evidence-based architectural recommendations.
- Support architecture governance activities and engagement with technical authorities and senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives, including emerging technologies such as cloud, AI, data platforms, and advanced digital capabilities.
- Support complex systems integration and transformation programmes.

Essential Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- Significant experience working as an Enterprise Architect within defence, government, national security, or similarly regulated environments.
- Experience delivering architecture solutions across complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies including:
- TOGAF
- MODAF
- NAF
- ArchiMate
- Experience working with secure systems engineering and cyber governance.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and principles including:
- Secure-by-design
- Zero Trust
- ISO 27001
- NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF)
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud, on-premise, and secure technology environments.
- Experience producing architecture strategies, roadmaps, governance documentation, and technical standards.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting defence R&D or innovation programmes.
- Exposure to multi-domain integration environments.
- Knowledge of data architecture concepts including:
- Data Fabric
- Data governance
- Data-centric security
- Master Data Management
- Experience with AI-enabled systems or emerging technologies.
- Familiarity with defence acquisition and assurance processes.
About You
You will be a strategic thinker with strong systems-thinking capability and the ability to translate complex operational needs into secure, scalable technology architectures.
You will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, technical teams, and delivery partners to shape architecture decisions and enable successful programme outcomes.
Please note: UK SC Security Clearance is mandatory for this position.
