Enterprise Business Management Director

A leading international banking group is seeking an Enterprise Business Management Director to join their London-based team. This role offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping operational strategy, governance, and transformation across a diverse and multi-entity environment.

You will be empowered to drive continuous improvement, embed best practices, and support senior stakeholders in fulfilling regulatory responsibilities. What you'll do:

  • Support the definition and delivery of the Operations strategy, ensuring alignment with both regional and global priorities while translating objectives into actionable plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operating models, governance structures, and decision-making frameworks to optimise organisational design.
  • Lead the end-to-end governance cycle for Operations, including planning, coordination, drafting, and quality assurance of Board papers, Committee materials, executive reports, and regulatory packs.
  • Establish and embed governance standards such as templates, timelines, and quality thresholds across all relevant departments to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Maintain a forward governance calendar aligned with key business milestones and regulatory requirements to facilitate proactive planning.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory requests, internal audits, and assurance activities while ensuring documentation is clear, auditable, and traceable.
  • Partner with risk functions to ensure governance outputs reflect risk controls and non-financial risk considerations in line with regulatory expectations.
  • Act as a central coordination point between various operations teams and wider business functions to build strong relationships with senior leaders.
  • Challenge and enhance materials to improve clarity, consistency, and strategic narrative for executive-level storytelling.
  • Support oversight of cost management, headcount allocation, resource distribution, management information reporting, performance tracking, and communication approaches.

What you bring:

  • Extensive experience within financial services environments such as COO or Business Management roles where collaboration was key.
  • Proven track record in strategy development or transformation initiatives within complex regulated organisations demonstrating commitment to shared goals.
  • Strong background producing Board-level or Executive materials that are concise yet insight-led for decision making purposes.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks including SMF responsibilities (SMF24 desirable) showing sensitivity towards compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability operating in multi-entity international banking environments requiring inter-personal skills for cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience embedding external best practice in governance processes including executive-level storytelling using data-driven insights.
  • Ability to leverage digital tools or automation solutions for efficiency improvements in reporting or governance production.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills enabling you to build trustful relationships with senior leaders across diverse teams.
  • Competencies such as customer focus embracing diversity enterprise leadership judgement risk management strategic vision trust integrity supporting communal success.
