Role Purpose: Manage and develop Enterprise Data Architecture and provide leadership in the deployment and use of data architecture concepts, models, and functionality.

Provide leadership in the definition and application of data modelling, metadata, and master data management, e.g., customer data and managing the data flows and data lineage of data across systems and applications.

Champion the improvement of Next’s data assets through engaging in Data Design Authority and change projects to influence approaches and outcomes.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Define and maintain an enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap for the application of Metadata and Master Data Management.
  • Define, develop, and maintain the Data Architecture, including business information, data models, and data dependency relationship diagrams.
  • Actively promote compliance Data Standards within business unit or function’s data architecture, providing advice, guidance, and mentoring on functionality and capabilities.
  • Support effective exploitation of Next’s data by working as part with Group Data to provide gap analysis of data available for analytics vs data within the enterprise.
  • Provide data domains, entity models, and standard attributes to support Data Governance and Data Owners.
  • Identify opportunities to exploit open data standards.
  • Identify exceptions and anomalies with business unit or function’s data architecture and consistently work the Enterprise Architect(s) and internal and external stakeholders to resolve.
  • Maintain and develop awareness of current leading practice, emerging information, data architecture toolsets, methodologies, and standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote the development of metadata for key business domains.
  • Identify, define, obtain, and deploy data toolsets to support effective management and use of metadata and master data.
  • Ensure the Data Dictionary (part of an effective data modelling toolset) is managed by data architecture, with the data quality and data governance managers in Data Governance.
