Enterprise Data Engineering Manager
Location: Bristol
Salary: circa £105k
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced data leader to become part of the IT data community within Aviva. You will join at an exciting time for our data platforms and services, as we transition to Enterprise Data Services and implement our new Enterprise Data Platform. Data forms a core pillar of the organisational strategy and is seen as a key differentiator within Aviva.
In this role you will lead the data engineering teams in the Insurance, Wealth, Retirement (IWR) and Health Enterprise Data Platform, owning the platform and providing technical and delivery leadership across-data related projects impacting the IWR & Health business functions. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, performant solutions, developed using leading data tools and technologies within a predominantly cloud-based environment, and ensuring a high-quality production service to our customers.
A bit about the job
You will:
- Build on-going relationships with Product Owners, CIO Business Partners and projects to understand and drive the IWR & Health book of work and business data needs, and to support them in enhancing their data-related capabilities.
- Shape and structure a collaborative environment across our perm and GSP (Global Sourcing Partner) communities to build data engineering teams that deliver high quality, AI driven, performant solutions.
- Work with Delivery Leads to schedule, plan and resource change delivery, supporting technical decision-making and providing guidance on key blockers and dependencies.
- Work with the OAM (Operations and Maintenance) Team to ensure the IWR & Health data platform is technically compliant, cost effective and delivers an outstanding service to our customers.
- Nurture data engineering talent, developing key skills and capabilities, and ensuring everyone is aligned with strategic, team and product delivery objectives.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
If you are passionate about the world of data, have a track record of leading data engineering teams and delivering strategic data initiatives, then we would love to hear from you. In particular:
- Experienced in all aspects of the data eco-system, including Data Strategy, Data Engineering, Data Governance and Data Insights.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to work across business and IT teams to shape and agree delivery approaches and plans.
- Excellent team player who can motivate a diverse team of permanent, onshore and offshore resources, inspiring individuals and teams to adapt and improve.
- Experience coordinating technical and engineering resource in technical projects, preferably within a cloud-based environment
- Curious, with an appetite for self-development and to continuously understand emerging technologies, approaches and best practice.

- Salary circa £95,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
