JOB TITLE: Enterprise Infrastructure Lead

SALARY: £92,701 – £109,060

LOCATION(S): Manchester

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

About This Opportunity

You'll be part of the Enterprise Lab in Core Infrastructure, reporting to the Engineering Lead, and lead engineering teams that compose, build, run and modernise Unisys-based infrastructure, ensuring resilience, security, and regulatory compliance while progressively simplifying and modernising the platform estate.

The Enterprise Lab support platforms that sit at the heart of Lloyds Banking Group, processing high value, customer critical transactions in a highly regulated environment. This role combines deep technical stewardship of enterprise-class infrastructure with people leadership, platform strategy, and operational excellence.

We're looking for someone to lead, inspire and develop a team of infrastructure engineers. You'll drive a strategic effort to improve the agility, pace of operations and cost, of our Lab for LBG. The services you'll help lead, develop, and operate are at the core of our infrastructure and require high quality while moving fast to keep up with our customers' needs. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop engineering teams responsible for the enterprise-class infrastructure, setting clear technical direction and fostering a strong engineering culture
  • Own the technical integrity, availability, resilience and security of these enterprise platforms supporting the Bank
  • Define and execute platform and infrastructure strategies, including hardware refresh, software currency, resilience improvements and decommissioning activity
  • Act as a senior technical authority for Infrastructure platforms, supporting deep expertise during incidents, change design, risk management and assurance activities
  • Lead major change initiatives, ensuring high-quality change execution through CAB, effective risk assessment, and robust implementation planning
  • Partner closely with application teams, architects, security, service, and suppliers to enable safe delivery of change and continuous improvement
  • Drive simplification, automation and operational efficiency where appropriate, while understanding the challenges of enterprise platforms
  • Support financial management for the platform, including forecasting, cost control and supplier oversight
  • Develop capability within your teams through coaching, mentoring, skills development and succession planning

What we’re looking for?

  • Leading engineering teams accountable for enterprise-level infrastructure in a regulated, high-availability setting
  • Strong hands-on understanding of mainframe or midrange platforms (e.g. Unisys, IBM Z, Non-Stop, or equivalent critically important estates)
  • Ownership of platform strategy, lifecycle management and technical roadmaps
  • Experience managing complex change and incident scenarios, including senior collaborator engagement
  • Solid understanding of resilience, security, and operational risk within financial services or comparable regulated industries

And Any Experience Of These Would Be Great

  • Experience with Unisys systems
  • Financial services, payments, mortgages, or core banking environments
  • Hardware refreshes or large-scale technology transformation programmes
