The Role: Entertainment Manager – Guildford Spectrum

We’re looking for an ambitious leader to join our Head of Department Team at Guildford Spectrum, managing our newest and most unique facilities—Ice and Bowl centres. This is an exciting opportunity to help transform these spaces into vibrant social entertainment hubs, including overseeing the launch of our brand-new interactive Puttify experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Leadership:

    • Drive income growth and increase customer participation within Ice and Bowl departments.
    • Lead the transition of the Bowl facility into a conင}{х 친h entertainment venue, fostering new revenue streams (e.g., Strikes Diner, Harvey’s Diner, and Puttify).
    • Achieve participation income targets through creative programming and service innovation.
  • Team Management & Growth:

    • Lead, develop, and motivate your team to deliver world-class customer service.
    • Build strong working relationships with local stakeholder groups, clubs (e.g., Guildford Flames Ice Hockey, Bowl leagues), and stakeholders.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and high performance across shores and water-facing operations (catering management experience welcome but not mandatory).

  • Operations & Compliance:

    • Ensure health, safety, and standards compliance across all departments.
    • Oversee operational efficiency, facility maintenance, and continuous development of services.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Department Team to support wider strategic objectives at Guildford.
  • Flexible & Strategic Leadership:

    • Participate in a management rota, including shifts as Complex Duty Manager.
    • Balance commercial goals, operational excellence, and customer experience with sensitivity and practicality.

What We’re Looking For:

✔ Minimum Experience:

  • Assistant Manager or equivalent experience in medium to large leisure operations.
  • Previous managerial experience (regardless of industry).

✔ Core Competencies:

  • People Management: Ability to lead, train, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Commercial Awareness: Drive growth, participation, and financial acumen in leisure.
  • Problem Solving: Adapt, innovate, and overcome challenges with confidence.
  • Multitasking & Organisation: Juggle deadlines successfully in a dynamic environment.
  • Customer-Focused Mindset: Deliver exceptional experience to diverse stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Engage effectively with clubs, community groups, and partners.
  • Compliance & Safety: Prioritise health and safety standards in everything you do.

✔ Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with ice, bowl, or catering operations (not essential—willingness to learn is key).
