Health & Safety Manager – VIDA UK
Location: Wormslade and Glentham (4 days in a week)
Reporting to: UK General Manager
Role Overview
VIDA Bioenergy in UK is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance across our UK operations. This is a key strategic role within a growing organisation, offering the opportunity to build and shape HSE policies, systems and culture from the ground up. You will work closely with site teams, contractors and senior management to ensure full compliance with UK HSE legislation while positioning VIDA as an industry leader in safety performance and culture. The successful candidate will be hands-on, pragmatic and confident operating independently, with the credibility to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain company-wide Health & Safety policies, procedures and systems
- Design and implement HSE performance monitoring, reporting and KPI frameworks
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
- Act as a key advisor to site and project teams, promoting a strong, proactive safety culture
- Lead and support incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across operational sites
- Manage ongoing compliance with environmental permit requirements, including reporting, emissions monitoring and liaison with regulators and Local Authority Officers
- Develop and embed an industry-leading safety culture programme, ensuring safety is central to all VIDA activities
- Liaise effectively with contractors, site managers and external stakeholders to ensure safe working practices at all times

What You Bring
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Proven experience managing Health & Safety on operational or industrial sites, ideally within energy, waste, utilities or industrial sectors
- Demonstrated responsibility for environmental compliance on EA-permitted sites
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Experience within anaerobic digestion, biogas or similar process plant environments is desirable
