Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager – Rugby, UK

Our Rugby site is the heartbeat of our Power Conversion & Storage business, leading electrification efforts for marine, oil & gas, power generation, and industrial decarbonisation. With a team of 450 professionals, we need an influential EHS leader to ensure safety in our global impact.
About the Role
As the EHS Manager, you will lead safety culture across manufacturing operations while driving compliance, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation. Reporting to the EHS Leader, you will act as a bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring operational efficiency without compromising safety.
This is a site-based role at our Rugby, UK location. You must combine technical expertise, leadership, and practical hands-on experience to foster a proactive safety culture amid growth.
What You Will Do

Culture Leadership
- Champion safety as a core value, engaging with 450+ employees.
- Drive safety awareness and behavioural change across operations.

Strategic Execution
- Translate Group EHS strategies into tactical, shop-floor action plans.
- Mitigate operational risks to prevent incidents before they occur.

Legal & ISO Compliance
- Ensure adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards.
- Provide expert guidance and maintain audit readiness.

Data-Driven Improvement
- Use safety data to identify trends and implement improvement programs.
- Measure and report performance metrics effectively.

Risk Management
- Manage risks in motor control centres, high-level lifting, and working at height.
- Implement preventive safety measures in complex industrial environments.

Incident Investigations
- Oversee root cause analysis for incidents and ensure corrective actions.
- Lead lessons-learned initiatives to enhance safety protocols.

Stakeholder Partnerships
- Act as a liaison with external regulators (HSE, Environment Agency) and internal leadership.
- Influence at all levels—from shop-floor teams to executive decision-makers.

Lean Integration
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to embed Lean methodologies in EHS processes, reducing waste and inefficiencies.
Requirements
Essential
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) with substantial hands-on EHS leadership in heavy manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Deep understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, including construction, industrial, and process safety.
- Proven experience in managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; ISO 9001 certifications are a plus.
- Confident in stakeholder engagement, from mustering employees to reporting to C-level executives.
- Data-driven mindset: Proficiency in EHS metrics, reporting, and compliance systems.
- Organised, detail-oriented: Strong ability to track aerosols, monitoring, and accident trends.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Technical Skills
- Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with industrial automation systems (SCADA, computerized safety systems) is an advantage.

Security & Compliance
- UK Eyes only – must be a sole British citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain SC-level national security vetting.
- All candidates will undergo rigorous background checks (BPSS or SC clearance).
Highly Desirable
- Working towards (or holding) IOSH or CMI OSH certification.
