The Environment TD is responsible for creating high-end 3D environments for shots and sequences. The role balances technical and artistic demands and helps set the standard for environment creation and layout workflows.

Requirements

Duties:

  • Hero Environment Creation: Build detailed, shot-ready environments using modular and custom elements
  • Scene Assembly: Manage large-scale scenes for use in lookdev and lighting
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure environments are clean, efficient, and fit into studio pipeline requirements
  • Collaboration: Resolve scene integration issues with layout, lighting, and comp
  • Visual Fidelity: Maintain realism, composition, and scale accuracy in all environments
  • Scene Organisation: Maintain high standards of scene cleanliness and usability
  • Documentation: Contribute to internal guides and support workflow clarity
  • Deliver visually strong, technically efficient environments on time

  • Expert in Maya, Houdini, Substance, Mari, and environment build tools
  • Advanced knowledge of layout, modularity, and large-scale scene management
  • Strong technical problem-solving and communication
  • Excellent eye for composition, lighting, and form
  • Experience of using on-set data such as photogrammetry and lidar
  • Familiarity with SpeedTree, Gaea, or terrain workflows
  • Python or tool feedback experience is a plus
  • Understanding of camera projection, matte painting, and DMP workflows
  • Ability to create and improve team tools or workflows
  • Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening
  • Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
  • Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude
  • Driven to make things better with flexibility to change course when needed
  • Positive energy, focusing on results and having a positive impact on those around you
  • Self awareness and an ability to resolve and diffuse problems treating others with kindness and respect
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well with others
