The Environment TD is responsible for creating high-end 3D environments for shots and sequences. The role balances technical and artistic demands and helps set the standard for environment creation and layout workflows.
Requirements
Duties:
- Hero Environment Creation: Build detailed, shot-ready environments using modular and custom elements
- Scene Assembly: Manage large-scale scenes for use in lookdev and lighting
- Technical Oversight: Ensure environments are clean, efficient, and fit into studio pipeline requirements
- Collaboration: Resolve scene integration issues with layout, lighting, and comp
- Visual Fidelity: Maintain realism, composition, and scale accuracy in all environments
- Scene Organisation: Maintain high standards of scene cleanliness and usability
- Documentation: Contribute to internal guides and support workflow clarity
- Deliver visually strong, technically efficient environments on time

Skills, Attributes And Experience

- Expert in Maya, Houdini, Substance, Mari, and environment build tools
- Advanced knowledge of layout, modularity, and large-scale scene management
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication
- Excellent eye for composition, lighting, and form
- Experience of using on-set data such as photogrammetry and lidar
- Familiarity with SpeedTree, Gaea, or terrain workflows
- Python or tool feedback experience is a plus
- Understanding of camera projection, matte painting, and DMP workflows
- Ability to create and improve team tools or workflows
- Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening
- Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
- Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude
- Driven to make things better with flexibility to change course when needed
- Positive energy, focusing on results and having a positive impact on those around you
- Self awareness and an ability to resolve and diffuse problems treating others with kindness and respect
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well with others
