Bodelwyddan, Wales

Talented people are the key to our success.

Would you like to work for an inclusive and collaborative company which is also one of the most successful within the UK infrastructure industry?

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Environmental Advisor to join our team on the National Grid Bodelwyddan Framework, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for an environmental professional who is keen to further develop their skills, expand their responsibilities and contribute to a high-profile infrastructure project.

Collaborating with the Environmental Manager, you will provide day-to-day environmental management and oversight across the scheme, helping to ensure works are delivered in compliance with environmental legislation, project requirements, and business standards. The project presents a variety of complex and interesting environmental challenges, including the management of protected species such as great crested newts, offering a unique opportunity to develop specialist experience within a major infrastructure programme.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide clear environmental advice and guidance to project teams at all levels, helping to minimise environmental risk and ensure compliance.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of environmental management processes within the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Produce, maintain, and update environmental documentation to support ISO 14001 certification requirements.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of environmental strategies, objectives and action plans aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and support environmental inspections, audits, and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor environmental performance across the project and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support pre-contract and work-winning activities by providing environmental input and expertise.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits to ensure compliance with legislation, permits, licences, consents, and management plans.
  • Promote environmental best practice and share lessons learned across project teams and the wider business.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of environmental legislation, industry standards, and emerging best practices.
  • Engage positively with clients, regulators, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Collect, analyse, and report environmental performance data using business measurement tools.
  • Prepare and report monthly environmental metrics, including waste, energy, water, and fuel consumption.
  • Deliver environmental training and awareness sessions to employees, operatives, and subcontractors.
  • Support the Environmental Manager in enhancing environmental processes, procedures, and project documentation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
