The Role
About the Position
Murphy is recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to join our Energy ETP Project based in Kentish Town.
Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Advisor willPlay a critical role in ensuring compliance, sustainability, and risk mitigation across our projects. Responsibilities include:
- Establishing best practices in environmental and sustainability, collaborating with the SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, Security) function to maintain industry-leading standards
- Regular site inspections to verify adherence to Company Policy, legal regulations, and Contractual Requirements
- Incident investigation & analysis—root cause determination, reporting recommendations to prevent recurrence
- Tracking business/contract environmental data, compiling reports for SHES Management, and identifying trends for improvement
- Developing and executing environmental and sustainability campaigns, improvement plans, and SHES-related initiatives in alignment with SHES Management
- Supporting project teams in managing environmental and sustainability responsibilities, providing expertise on compliance, risk mitigation, and reporting
- Assessing significant SHES issues for projects, establishing control measures and permit compliance strategies
- Securing necessary consents, permits, or exemptions for projects and maintaining legislative, procedural, and contractual compliance records
- Collaborating with internal environmental specialists and third-party consultants to share best practices within our growing Environment & Sustainability function

The Ideal Candidate
To excel in this role, you will possess:
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in an Environmental Advisory role, preferably within construction or infrastructure
- Qualified with an Environmental Degree
- Strong understanding of environmental law application in construction, including:
- Ecological mitigation
- Consents, licensing, DCO/TCPA (Development Consent Order/Town & Country Planning) & discharge planning
- Water management and pollution prevention
- Biodiversity Net Gain
- Waste management & contaminated land regulation
- Familiarity with Statutory Nuisance policies
- Construction/Infrastructure experience, with knowledge of risk mitigation techniques
- Associate membership of the Institution of Environmental Practitioners (ISEP); PISEP membership (or pathway support) desired
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) awareness advantageous
