Environmental Advisor - Argyll

Job Description As a result of significant growth, United Infrastucture Transmission & Distribution Ltd is seeking an Environmental Advisor to be based on Project located at Argyle, Scotland on a permanent, staff basis. Environmental experience within an Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and Civils environment is preferable although not essential. This is a hybrid role that would suit someone based in England or Wales that is flexible to travel to project sites. Whilst the role is nominally based at one of the Company’s offices and includes home-working, the Environmental Advisor is expected to undertake visits to the business’ facilities and worksites around England & Wales to, for example, provide support, carry out assurance activities and incident investigations, provide sickness / holiday cover, etc. Join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients. Support the implementation of Wood’s environmental strategy and approach to environmental management including the implementation of Wood’s environmental standards. Provide technical support to facilitate the environmental plan to ensure that environmental aspects are appropriately managed and that Wood’s HSSE policy obligations are enacted. Assist in the identification of, understand and communicate the legal, industrial and contractual environmental obligations placed on Wood. Assist in the development and provision of training on key environmental risks to facilitate greater environmental awareness across the business. Work with assurance teams in developing and undertaking environmental inspections and audits where required. Provide the business with technical environmental services on a broad range of environmental management issues e.g. contaminated land, investigations, client engagement. Provision of technical environmental advice and support to management to ensure that environmental obligations are effectively supported. Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents and subsequent monitoring to ensure any trends are identified and mitigated effectively. Liaise with the line manager and legal teams to manage environmental regulatory issues and/or investigations. Facilitate the implementation of environmental key performance indicators and monitor trends, issues, alerts etc., communicating to Wood’s management and central support teams. Support the business to maintain environmental licences, certifications and memberships. Qualifications First and higher degree in Environmental related discipline (desirable) Professional membership of environmental body (desirable) Excellent technical writing skills. Collating and interpreting environmental performance data. On-site practical knowledge and experience High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format. Practical environmental monitoring skills (noise, vibration, air etc.) Authoring environmental management processes & procedures Understanding of Environmental law and governance Undertaking environmental awareness training Environmental inspection and auditing Driving licence Willing to travel internationally Excellent communication & literacy skills Proficient in all aspects of MS Office
