Environmental Enforcement Officer
£35,412 - £39,152 Full time, Permanent
The Environmental Enforcement Team (EET) are currently seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Enforcement Officer (EEO). The team is based in the Council’s Stakeford Depot, Choppington, NE62 5TR and forms part of the broader Environmental Enforcement Team (EET), comprising of the Animal Welfare Team and Pest Control Team which sits within Neighborhood Services, delivering services such as waste and recycling and parks and green spaces.
With 8 staff, the EET’s area of responsibility includes fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, accumulations, graffiti, duty of care investigation as well as dog fouling and litter enforcement.
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer, the successful applicant will be able to work independently but also liaise closely with key stakeholders including, residents, Elected Members, Town and Parish Councils as well as the Council’s legal team and members of the broader EET.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investigation and enforcement including, patrolling, PACE interviewing, complaint investigation, case management and the preparation of prosecution files. Experience of relevant environmental legislation would be an advantage.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
- Good standard of literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills.
- Knowledge and experience of enforcement procedures including; patrolling, complaint investigation, PACE interviewing, case management and court file preparation.
- Excellent communication and customer handling skills.
- Full driving licence.
