The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.

As we prepare for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), we're looking for an experienced leader to help us maintain excellent services while shaping the future.
This is far more than a business-as-usual management role. You'll provide strategic and operational leadership across Environmental Health, Licensing and assist with Private Sector Housing, ensuring high quality service delivery while leading improvement and change.
We're seeking someone who enjoys leading through change, supporting staff, improving services and delivering complex transformation programmes. Working closely with the Interim Head of Community Protection, you will help shape the future operating model for the service, ensuring it remains resilient, customer focused and ready for the challenges and opportunities presented by LGR.
You'll also work alongside our temporary Private Sector Housing Manager to review and develop the Private Sector Housing service, helping ensure the team is appropriately structured, supported and equipped to meet increasing demand and new legislative responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Environmental Health and Licensing services.
- Lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities are delivered effectively, maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous service improvement, innovation and performance across the service.
- Work closely with the Interim Head of Community Protection to support LGR reorganisation, organisational change and the future design of services.
- Work alongside the temporary Private Sector Housing Manager to review the structure and delivery of the Private Sector Housing service, to ensure it is resilient, efficient and equipped to meet future legislative and service demands.
- Build effective relationships with members, partners, residents and other stakeholders, representing the service at a senior level.
- Manage budgets, resources and performance to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Highlight a snapshot of the essential criteria from the person specification
We are looking for someone who has:
- A recognised Environmental Health qualification and eligibility for professional membership.
- Significant management experience within Environmental Health services, including experience of Private Sector Housing.
- Experience of leading organisational change, service reviews, restructures or transformation programmes.
- A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of the legislative framework affecting Environmental Health, Licensing and Private Sector Housing.
- Excellent communication, partnership working and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience of managing budgets, performance and resources effectively.
- The ability to think strategically while maintaining a strong operational focus and commitment to excellent customer service.
Hours & Contract type
37 hours per week - Fixed Term until 31 March 2028 - Pay £59,852- £62,585
