Work Experience Placement as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO)
Location: Dorset Council, Hanhams House, Wimborne Minster
✨ Are you a secondary school student passionate about protecting the public with an interest in food safety and health and safety?
Do you want to gain hands-on experience and make a real difference in your community? Join Dorset Council for an exciting 1-week work placement!
As a work experience student, you’ll gain a behind-the-scenes look at how Dorset Council keeps our community safe, healthy, and sustainable while working alongside the Environmental Health Team.
Key Responsibilities
During your placement, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Assist with investigations & inspections – Help with service requests, environmental monitoring, and compliance checks.
- Engage with the public & stakeholders – Provide support, advice, and assistance during interactions.
- Witness enforcement actions – Observe how we ensure public safety through regulatory measures.
- Collaborate with teams – Work alongside professionals and community partners toward shared goals.
What We’re Looking For
This opportunity is open to secondary school students who:
- Have a passion for environmental health, particularly food safety and public health.
- Are willing to learn, open to new challenges, and eager to develop skills.
- Can work as a team and communicate effectively.
- Bring a positive attitude, professionalism, and teamwork.
