Job Description

Summary

The SHEQ Specialist is responsible for implementing and monitoring Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality standards across utility-scale Solar PV projects. This role ensures compliance with UK legislation, CDM Regulations, and company policies, while fostering a proactive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in quality and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Health

  • Develop and implement site-specific SHEQ plans aligned with UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, review method statements, and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions.

Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and project-specific requirements.
  • Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Implement quality control procedures for construction and commissioning activities.
  • Review and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate documentation.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain SHEQ records and prepare reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of statutory documentation.

Training & Culture

  • Deliver SHEQ inductions and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across the site.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent (essential).
  • Experience in SHEQ roles within construction or renewable energy projects (Solar/BESS preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and travel to project sites as required.
  • A passion for sustainability and environmental solutions.
  • Candidate must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions.
