Occupational Hygiene Technician

About the Role
This role is based on-site full time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
The Occupational Hygiene Technician will provide essential leadership, knowledge, and support to promote safe working practices, ensuring compliance with business, legislative, and contractual requirements. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities
- Stay informed of Occupational Hygiene legislation, industry standards, and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
- Advise and support on PPE (Personal Protecting Equipment) usage, safe work practices, and ergonomic considerations to prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to raise awareness of Occupational Health hazards and foster a safety-first culture.
- Assist the HSE Lead in executing the Occupational Hygiene Strategy.
- Support investigations and studies related to Occupational Hygiene, as directed by the HSE Lead and project management.
- Promote best practices in Occupational Hygiene, ensuring consistent application of HSE policies across projects.
- Monitor and review Occupational Hygiene performance through inspections, audits, and suitability assessments of Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure compliance. Record findings and highlight improvement areas.
- Agree, follow-up, and resolve Occupational Hygiene non-conformance issues in collaboration with site management.
- Prepare and deliver reports on Occupational Hygiene performance targets, KPIs, and regulatory/commercial requirements.
- Provide proactive guidance, advice, and training to embedded Occupational Hygiene processes across project work packages.
- Assess training needs, prepare, and deliver required Occupational Hygiene training.
- Manage incidents related to Occupational Hygiene with preparedness, response, reporting, and follow-up mechanisms, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Conduct any reasonable tasks assigned by the line manager.

Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience as an Occupational Hygienist or Occupational Hygiene Technician in industrial environments or construction projects.
- Specialist experience in producing fumes, including welding habitats, LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) systems, and RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment) requirements.
- A track record in delivering audits, inspections, and remedial actions for non-conformances.
- CertOH (Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene) from the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS), either achieved or near completion.
- CCNSG (Construction Safety Certificate Scheme) certification.
