Environmental Representative – Freelance (12-Month Contract)

Location: South Ayrshire (Wind Farm Project)
Contract: Freelance – 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £400–£500 per day (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Representative to join a major wind farm construction project in South Ayrshire on a 12-month freelance contract.

Working as part of the project delivery team, you will take the lead on environmental compliance across the site, ensuring all construction activities are carried out in accordance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), environmental legislation, and project-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental management activities across the project.
  • Ensure compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
  • Prepare, review and maintain environmental documentation and Environmental Risk Management Plans.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental permits, licences, consents and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to the site management team and workforce.
  • Liaise with the client, regulators and relevant stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Chair weekly environmental meetings and report on environmental performance.
  • Promote best practice and drive continuous environmental improvement throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience in environmental management within a construction or civil engineering environment.
  • Previous experience working on major infrastructure, renewable energy, civil engineering or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and environmental legislation.
  • Experience managing environmental permits, licences and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional environmental qualifications and/or membership of a recognised environmental body are desirable.
