Environmental Manager

Environmental Manager - Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm

Base Location You'll need to spend 50% of your working week in:

  • Glasgow
  • Aberdeen
  • Montrose
  • Perth
  • Reading

(SSE Renewables locations can also be considered.)


Salary & Benefits

  • £44,000 – £65,900 annual salary

About the Role

SSE Renewables seeks a dedicated Environmental Manager to provide expert support to the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, the largest operational wind site in Scotland.

This role focuses on:

  • Environmental governance
  • Compliance with licence/consent conditions
  • Monitoring programmes
  • Collaboration with site teams (based in Montrose), engineering stakeholders, and external partners.

As the key environmental contact for the site, you’ll lead all environmental performance—keeping operations aligned with legal and regulatory standards while maintaining regulatory engagement with key agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental performance, ensuring all impact measures are managed effectively.
  • Monitor compliance with licences and consents, updating post-consent plans as needed.
  • Lead post-construction monitoring programmes, coordinating with external vendors and regulators.
  • Manage Marine Licences, ensuring operational and maintenance activities are executed while staying within regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage with internal Colin[[eagues across engineering and site operations and external partners (regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, fisheries authorities) on matters spanning land, sea and fisheries.

Essential Requirements

  • Environmental management experience, with a strong understanding of environmental legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Background in marine or offshore projects (e.g., renewables, energy, shipping, wastewater treatment) – though offshore wind experience is not mandatory.
  • Collaboration skills for working in multidisciplinary teams, building inclusive partnerships with internal and external groups.
  • Insightful communication and capability for engaging with regulators, vendors and specialist stakeholders confidently.
  • Proactive mindset, committed to continuous improvement while sharing key learnings with colleagues.
