About the Role
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our outdoor spaces are maintained to a high standard, supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable, and customer-focused services while leading and developing a team to achieve excellent results.
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go — so if you want to work for a company that is truly flexible, where you are challenged and valued, this could be the role for you!

Here at Yorkshire Housing, our customers are at the heart of what we do – we call it being customer obsessed. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, with a mission to make it possible for our customers to have a place they’re proud to call home.
Creating safe, attractive, and well-maintained outdoor environments is an essential part of delivering great places to live. As an Environmental Services Team Leader, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our grounds maintenance and environmental services are delivered to a high standard while driving performance, value for money, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities & Key Tasks

- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring work is completed on time and to a high standard
- Manage minor works programmes including fencing, landscaping, tree planting, and woodland maintenance
- Monitor performance, quality, and customer satisfaction, implementing improvements where needed
- Manage grounds maintenance contractors through regular performance reviews and meetings
- Build positive relationships with customers, community groups, housing teams, and other stakeholders
- Prepare specifications and support the delivery of environmental improvement projects
- Manage environmental health-related activities, including invasive species control and sharps removal
- Champion health and safety compliance, including risk assessments, COSHH, vehicle management, and incident reporting
- Prepare and deliver performance reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
