Role Overview

Allen & York is recruiting an Environmental & Social Manager to support an international EPC contractor delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across Africa and Southeast Asia. The role sits at the intersection of project execution, lender compliance, and stakeholder management, covering environmental and social risk across the full project lifecycle.

This is not a reporting-only ESG role. It is operational, field-aware, and deeply embedded in infrastructure delivery, where environmental and social performance determines project viability.

Core Responsibilities

The role focuses on end-to-end Environmental & Social (E&S) management across international projects:

  • Lead E&S coordination across project development, construction, and operational phases
  • Manage and review key E&S documentation including:
    • Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs)
    • Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs)
    • Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEPs)
    • Environmental and social monitoring frameworks
  • Oversee external consultants and technical contractors delivering E&S studies
  • Support construction teams in maintaining compliance during execution phases
  • Engage with regulators, lenders, communities, and project stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • IFC Performance Standards
    • Equator Principles
    • Export Credit Agency (ECA) requirements
  • Manage cross-jurisdictional environmental and social risk exposure

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What the Role Really Demands (Reality Check)

This is a high-accountability role where ESG theory meets infrastructure reality:

  • You are the compliance gatekeeper for lenders and regulators
  • You translate ESG frameworks into construction site discipline
  • You manage stakeholder friction in politically and socially complex environments
  • You operate like a risk architect across multiple countries at once

If ESG is usually a dashboard, this role is the machinery behind the dashboard.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong experience delivering or reviewing ESIAs for infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects
  • Deep understanding of environmental management systems and regulatory compliance
  • Hands-on experience with IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability across communities and regulators
  • Background in consultancy or owner’s engineer roles preferred
  • Experience in emerging markets is a strong advantage
  • Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams simultaneously
