About the job
At National Highways we are very proud of the diverse habitats and associated species within our soft estates. Our linear habitats along the road network help integrate the Strategic Road Network into the landscape and provide invaluable habitat corridors for a range of protected species, at National Highways, as the custodian of these important habitats, we are passionate about the management of these areas and we are looking for environmental and landscape professionals who will work within our Environment Teams to help to support the safe running of our road networks while maintaining and renewing these assets.
This role is based from either our Birmingham or Nottingham office. Occasional travel to other offices or sites may be required.
Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.
- Work with project teams to produce drawings and documentation for environmental schemes
- Develop a consistent drawing standard in accordance with existing standards
- Provide drawing support to other projects within the regional environmental team
- Assist with site surveys pre intervention and post construction
- Monitor the delivery of agreed solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues

About you
- A Landscape Architecture degree (accredited by the Landscape Institute) or related qualification and work experience
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Competency with drawing software AutoCAD and ArcGIS
- Competency in designing soft landscape / planting designs including specifications for implementation
- A good understanding of practical operations required to deliver works to natural assets

We address over 39,000 customer enquiries every month, plan and deliver all maintenance activities on the network, drive efficiencies and improvements across our systems and roads, and respond to incidents across 4,500 miles of motorways and major A-roads that we manage. All to make sure National Highways customers have safer, smoother, and more reliable journeys.
External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
