Environmental Supervisor
Environmental Supervisor – Ramsgate Site

AEM Limited has been Europe’s leading independent overhaul and repair facility for over 60 years, specialising in aerospace repair, maintenance, and overhaul for international and regional airlines, helicopter operators, and airframe manufacturers.
We are searching for an Environmental Supervisor to join our Ramsgate site, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and driving sustainability across the organisation.
Purpose of the Role
The Environmental Supervisor will:
- Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation and corporate standards.
- Manage regulatory risk and lead sustainability performance improvements across the business.
- Align sustainability practices with industry and corporate goals.
- Promote a culture of environmental responsibility company-wide.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to:
- REACH
- COSHH
- COMAH (Lower Tier)
- UK HSE legislation
- Maintain the COMAH MAPP and conduct hazard identification.
- Lead emergency planning and scenarios.
- Liaise with the HSE and Environment Agency on inspections and reporting.
- Prepare for and manage ISO 14001 audits, maintaining all Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation.
Chemical & Waste Management
- Oversee chemical approvals, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) reviews, and risk assessments.
- Maintain chemical inventory and ensure safe storage and segregation.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste segregation, disposal, and recycling in compliance with regulations.

Sustainability & Environmental Performance
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies, including:
- Use of low-VOC chemicals.
- Energy efficiency improvements.
- Track and report on KPIs, including:
- Carbon footprint reduction.
- Energy, water, and waste metrics.
- Promote circular economy practices and sustainable procurement.
- Lead employee engagement in environmental initiatives and awareness campaigns.
Training & Awareness
- Deliver training on chemical handling, spill response, and environmental procedures.
- Foster a company-wide culture of environmental responsibility.
Reporting & Site Support
- Compile compliance reports, incident documentation, and performance metrics.
- Support engineering and maintenance teams with safe and sustainable practices.
- Conduct site inspections and contribute to safe project execution.
Experience Required
- Proven experience in environmental/sustainability management, preferably in the aerospace or industrial sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of REACH, COSHH, COMAH, and ISO 14001.
- Expertise in chemical safety, environmental audits, and sustainability reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and regulatory challenges.

Qualifications & Competencies
- Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and structured approach to managing complex responsibilities.
- Experience in managing direct reports and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
