Client-Facing Data Centre Sales Engineer
You will drive the promotion and sale of Trane's Data Centre and Process Cooling Equipment solutions, generating new business, fostering customer relationships, and hitting sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
✧ Sales and Business Development
- Identify target markets (e.g., data centres, industrial, computing) where Trane/Liebert solutions address cooling, redundancy, or efficiency challenges.
- Develop and execute strategic sales campaigns to:
- Prospect for new leads.
- Convert opportunities into sales.
- Conduct industry market research, analysing competitor positioning and new demand trends.
- Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline in CRM (Salesforce/SAP) with accurate stage data.
- Partner with marketing, engineering, and technical teams on targeted campaigns.
✧ Technical Expertise
- Translate customer needs (data centre cooling, high-density IT loads, reliability, energy efficiency) into tailored solutions:
- Chilled Water Systems (LCA/CRA units)
- Direct Expansion Systems (liebert XD/Ai Solutions)
- Free Cooling Integration
- High-Redundancy Configurations
- Support customers through commercial due diligence:
- Upfront specification alignment.
- Site visits/planning for installation.
- Collaborate with project management/pre-sales engineers to deliver custom bids and proof-of-concept installations.

✧ Customer Relationship Management
- Act as a trusted advisor for customers, anticipating needs in data centre deployments (retrofit, energy-efficient cooling, air handling) and legacy equipment phases.
- Foster long-term relationships by:
- Regular follow-ups.
- Troubleshooting support.
- Coordination between commercial, technical, and warranty teams.
- Provide after-sales service, including:
- Technical troubleshooting guidance.
- Maintenance recommendations.
- Liaising with field technicians.
✧ Sales Reporting and Insights
- Produce quarterly sales forecasts/reports featuring:
- Pipeline health.
- Win/loss analysis.
- Revenue targets alignment.
- Analyse market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to refine strategies.
✧ Business Compliance & Growth
- Adhere to Code of Conduct, ethics frameworks, and data privacy policies (GDPR).
- Drive individual goals via Trane’s bonus scheme and My Learning platform for professional development.
- Deliver ad hoc projects as assigned by leadership to support growth initiatives.
Requirements & Experience

- Sales fundamentals: Proven track record in B2B commercial engagements (preferably HVAC, data centres, or industrial cooling).
- Technical aptitude: Awareness of chiller types, redundancy ratings, cooling cycles, IECC compliance, and heat rejection strategies is an asset.
- Ideal backgrounds:
- Engineering graduate, Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) credits appreciated.
- Experience in sales engineering or key account management within cooling/aerospace/infrastructure sectors.
- Soft skills:
- Outbound persuasion/receptiveness to negotiate contract terms.
- Concise communication between field engineers, procurement, and end-clients.
- Technologies: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite + CRM (Salesforce/SAP) tracking.

- Right to work in the UK.
- Driving licence (with a valid clean record) for travel between potential sales locations.
