Role Overview

We have a really exciting opportunity to join our engineering team who are part of the operations team contributing to the manufacturing of hi-tech precision components. You will be an active member of the Equipment Engineering Department by ensuring equipment & machinery meets relevant production uptime requirements via reactive and preventative maintenance activities. The role will actively liaise with Production and Process Engineering teams to ensure correct areas of focus in order to achieve operational goals with respect to output, yield, cost, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake equipment maintenance (preventative, predictive, and breakdown) for all varieties of processing equipment within the Clean Room FAB.
  • Carry out all work ensuring adherence to the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
  • Adherence to standard work instructions & equipment manuals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive Equipment Engineering support to Equipment Tool Owners.
  • Liaison with Process & Production team members to exchange ideas & enable full sustainable solutions.
  • Instigate and apply improvements to positively impact output, yield, cost, and quality.
  • Support continuous improvement activities aimed at increased equipment performance.
  • Individually and in a team ensure optimum uptime/minimal downtime for tools in your area.
  • Work in a cleanroom environment, adhering to applicable protocols.
  • Initiate and drive change, self, and help others with regards to the implementation of change, takes a leading role in helping others progress ideas for change via shift/Improvement teams.
  • Take responsibility for own career development, successful completion of training plan to carry out essential maintenance tasks to support the Equipment Group across priority tool sets.
  • Initiate, suggest, and implement change to improve methods and ways of working, challenge the norm.
  • Carry out 6S audits and maintain area 5S Standards, take action to implement improvements and corrective actions from audits.
  • Working rotating shifts of 4 on 4 off, 7 - 7.
  • Be a member of the Emergency Response Team, with a requirement to wear Self-Contained Breathing apparatus and face respirators which can only be fitted to clean-shaven faces.

Ideal Candidate

  • NVQ level 3 – Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
  • Strong Health & Safety background.
  • Ability to write maintenance specifications based on manufacturers' recommendations and ability to follow written specifications.
  • Ability to understand technical diagrams.
  • Good mechanical and computer skills.
  • Electronic/electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to express technical problems in written format.
  • Ability to perform intermediate/advanced corrective actions when machines deviate from specified limits.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the departmental scorecard and the key tools. Ensure area metrics are attained by completing PMs in a timely manner.
  • Experience/understanding of internal customers, understands the impact of the role they do could affect the daily metrics.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload unsupervised.
  • Willingness to develop electrical/mechanical skills through studying and the guidance of Techs/Engineers.
  • Low-level problem solving.
  • Ability to cooperate with others, influence to achieve the desired performance metrics.
  • A focused team player who can also work effectively as an individual.
  • Experience of working in the following industries/skills would be advantageous:
    • Medical devices.
    • Vacuum systems (food manufacturing).
    • RAF or Navy.
