Robert Kasaija receiving his award from Claver Serumaga (R), Equity Bank’s Executive Director
HABARI DAILY | Kampala, Uganda | Several Equity Bank business partners have testified that a strong business needs a strong bank.
One of such associates is Robert Kasaija, the Director at Kasaija and Sons Millers Ltd, who has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the biggest names in Busia’s tourism and hospitality sector. He is also the proprietor of Gold Star Resort Hotel Ltd, one of the best hotels in Busia.
What started as a dream of building a landmark hotel in Busia, was nurtured step by step with the support of Equity Bank. Together, Equity walked the journey with him, from his very first facility of Shs 20 million to now managing a development facility worth over Shs 2 billion.
With the guidance and financial backing of Equity Bank, Mr. Kasaija has transformed his vision into reality, purchasing land, overseeing construction, and eventually completing Busia Gold Resort Hotel, now one of the town’s most iconic establishments.
Today, the hotel stands as a beacon of tourism and hospitality in Busia, a testament to resilience, partnership, and trust.
On his entrepreneurial journey, Kasaija has demonstrated consistency and growth. No wonder that when the Tupange Business Ne Equity Nationwide Forum, hosted by Equity Bank Uganda, moved upcountry, it caught up with him in Arua.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
