Title: Associate
Department: Operations
Location: London

Company Overview

Nomura is a global financial services group with an integrated network spanning approximately 30 countries and regions. By connecting markets East & West, Nomura services the needs of individuals, institutions, corporates and governments through its three business divisions: Wealth Management, Investment Management, and Wholesale (Global Markets and Investment Banking). Department Overview

The Equity Middle Office team, part of Global Middle Office, consists of two key product groups:

  • Equity Finance, Delta-1 and Cross Asset: Where middle office supports desks offering single stock and basket swaps to clients seeking long or short exposure using Total Return Swaps (TRS) to equity underlying assets.

  • Prime Brokerage Middle Office: This team consists of two key product groups; Cash Prime Brokerage and Synthetic Prime Brokerage. Operating on different platforms but with both businesses offering services to the same hedge fund clients. The team provides direct, client-aligned services to Hedge Fund clients, Prime Finance trading teams and offers operational and analytical support to other GM teams including Sales and Client service.

  • Equity Solutions: Provide middle office support for desks facilitating client equity position builds. Services include Equity Financing—encompassing equity-linked instruments and margin loans—that offer funding against new or existing equity stakes. These transactions are highly sensitive by nature and require substantial hands-on support and discretion.

The team is supported by a team in Mumbai where other middle office support activities are performed.

Role Description

With a growing business diversifying all the time, a cash and OTC product scope and synergies of the same HF clients and PB business contacts the role will be challenging and varied. It will offer exposure to all areas of the business including Operations divisions, Finance, Risk and Front Office sales and trading. It is a client-facing role and the successful candidate will have direct exposure to clients. Over time the successful applicant will develop an excellent understanding of how the Prime division operates. Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting the Cash Prime Brokerage business expansion by collaborating closely with project teams and the trading desk
  • Servicing PB clients daily, acting as their primary point of contact, addressing their needs, and resolving day-to-day queries
  • Delivering regional and global coverage by managing clients' transactional portfolios and taking proactive measures to mitigate financial and reputational risk for both clients and Nomura
  • Reviewing client reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; partnering with Client Service to drive improvements in efficiency, cost management, and controls
  • Onboarding new clients and ensuring accurate loading of SSIs and all data integrity requirements
  • Resolving breaks promptly and accurately by coordinating with traders, Client Service, IT, MO, and Core Operations teams
  • Maintaining up-to-date SOPs and representing Middle Office in KRI and Front Office supervision forums
  • Demonstrating flexibility to learn additional business areas and provide backup support across other Equity business segments, including Synthetic Prime Brokerage, Equity Solutions, Equity Finance & Delta-1, Equity Syndicate, and Convertible Bonds

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
