About The Analyst
The Analyst began in 2010 as a blog run by buy-side analysts passionate about stock picking, forensic research, and uncovering overlooked details—highlighting poor governance, spotting accounting tricks, and identifying inflection points before the market. This investigative mindset remains central to everything we do today.
Now, we’re a leading independent equity research provider, delivering distinctive, high-conviction ideas to a selective client base of some of the world’s foremost mutual funds and hedge funds. Since its inception, we’ve grown, refined our methodologies, and expanded our coverage—without compromising independence or analytical depth.
Our team currently consists of 18 motivated members across Research, Sales, Compliance, Finance, Creative, and Operations. Collaboration is key—flat structures mean everyone is trusted to drive ownership, contribute ideas, and create tangible impact.
Our Research team includes four Senior Analysts (including our Founder & CEO), one Analyst, and one Junior Analyst. We’re now seeking to strengthen both Analyst and Junior Analyst roles to support growth.
The Role
We seek an Equity Research Analyst to join our core team. You’ll engage in the full research lifecycle—from idea generation to client-ready output—with meaningful exposure, delegation of responsibilities, and the chance to build your own coverage portfolio over time.
Success in this role means taking over increasingly independent oversight: you’ll identify investment ideas, conduct meetings with UK and global management teams, model businesses, produce investment research, and present your findings to clients. Fast progression toward autonomy is the goal, punctuated by rapid learning and impact from the outset.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
- Research securities and industries to deliver investment recommendations grounded in deep analysis
- Develop and articulate original investment theses, supported by rigorous, original financial and qualitative research
- Build, own, and maintain financial models; create charts, dashboards, and supplementary visuals
- Craft client-ready research reports and investment notes to rigorous internal standards
- Conduct primary research, including company meetings, earns calls, and management access in the UK, Europe, and Asia
- Monitor portfolio companies and sector trends, flagging developments for team discussion
- Stay ahead of industry dynamics and current events to identify material shifts
What We’re Looking For
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Direct experience in equity research, investment management, or an adjacent field (strong transferable skills will also be considered)
- Proven ability to build, own, and continuously refine quantitative models—here’s how we’ll assess this: you should be able to quickly, intuitively critique and improve others' work, plus convey complex concepts clearly
- Track record of developing and communicating investment ideologies with clarity and conviction
- Strong intuition and self-motivation—independent thinking without losing sight of collective objectives
- Comfortable balancing pace and quality while managing shifting deadlines
- Self-directed and accountable—prepared to take direct responsibility without micromanagement
- Curious by nature, with an ** acute attention to detail** developed through prior research
- Commercially attuned with a passionate interest in investing—this extends beyond expertise, into genuine fascination with industry narratives and anomalies
- Strong written communication skills—able to distill complex investment case studies into concise arguments and actionable insights

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
