Job Description: Equity Tactical Strategies – Global Markets, London

Purpose of the Role

To develop and execute sales strategies to generate new business, maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, and achieve revenue targets.


Vice President – Expectations

To contribute or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.

General Leadership Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Resource Planning

    • Plan resources, budgets, and policies
    • Manage and maintain policies/processes
    • Deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures
  • Team Management (if applicable)

    • Define job roles and responsibilities
    • Plan for departmental future needs and operations
    • Counsell employees on performance and contribute to pay decisions
  • Cross-Functional Leadership

    • Influence departmental operations aligned with strategic and tactical priorities
    • Balance short- and long-term goals while ensuring budgets and schedules comply with corporate standards

Role-Specific Description: Equity Tactical Strategies

The Opportunity

Join Barclays’ Global Markets team as an Equity Tactical Strategies professional. This role involves:

  • Identifying actionable equity market opportunities
  • Developing thematic investment ideas
  • Delivering high-quality insights to institutional clients

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Sales, Trading, Research, and Portfolio Solutions teams to leverage market intelligence for short- to medium-term equity investment strategies across:

  • Sectors
  • Regions
  • Market themes

Specific Tasks Include:

  • Generate and communicate actionable investment ideas
  • Analyse market, economic, and company-specific developments
  • Produce timely market commentary, thematic research, and tactical reports
  • Develop quantitative/fundamental frameworks for investment recommendations
  • Partner with Sales and Trading to deliver insights to institutional clients
  • Monitor performance, assess risks, and refine strategies
  • Present market views to clients and senior stakeholders

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate:

Industry & Technical Expertise

  • Deep interest in Financial Markets
  • Significant experience in Equity Strategy, Equity Research, Sales & Trading, Asset Management, Hedge Funds, or related sectors
  • Proficiency in market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Equity markets
    • Macroeconomics
    • Portfolio construction
    • Risk management

Analytical & Communication Skills

  • Ability to generate and articulate compelling investment ideas
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong technical proficiency (Excel; ideally Python, SQL)

  • Collaborative work ethic across teams

Desirable Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of derivatives
  • Proficiency in French or German

  • This role is hosted in London under Certified status per PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations.
  • Requires mandatory regulatory qualifications or internal benchmarks approval.
