# Senior Financial Investigation Manager (SFIM) – Permanent Full-Time
Location: Newmarket, Stevenage | Grade: PO5 | Salary: £62,940 | Hours: 37 per week
## About the Role
The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) is seeking a Senior Financial Investigation Manager (SFIM), who will provide industry-leading strategic and operational leadership in financial investigation and asset recovery across the eastern region.
This role is critical to disrupting and dismantling serious and organised crime, ensuring effective use of financial investigation powers. As SFIM, you will:
- Lead specialist financial investigators (primarily from the Proceeds of Crime Unit)
- Drive consistent high-performance operational delivery, prioritising best practice in financial investigations, confiscation, and enforcement
- Work across forces, regional policing teams, and partners such as the Crown Prosecution Service to support complex investigations and promote tangible criminal justice outcomes
You will operate autonomously and with a high degree of accountability, making independent and evidence-based decisions while demonstrating adversarial thinking in dynamic operational settings. Critical components of this role include:
- Managing risk and providing complex decision-making under pressure
- Translating advanced insight into strategic, proportionate action
- Maintaining accountability without excessive supervision
## Responsibilities
Key duties include:
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee operational strategic planning and financial investigation partnerships
- Ensure alignment with national organised crime priorities and priorities
- Provide leadership in financial intelligence and asset recovery across multiple forces
Specialist Investigation Support
- Supervise a team of specialist financial investigators to achieve operational delivery goals
- Support-and-delivery of complex POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) cases, confiscation efforts, and enforcement activities
- Maintain compliance with legislative frameworks and force accountability standards
Collaborative Partnerships
- Engage with national and cross-force partners to maximise asset recovery opportunities
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with investigative and enforcement services
- Support structured and professional multi-agency investigations.
Decision-Making and Accountability
- Exercise competent decision-making based on sound operational and risk-based assessments

- Ensure all actions adhere to police policies, legal requirements, and organisational integrity.

## What We Are Looking For
We are seeking individuals with:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in financial investigation and asset recovery, including advanced knowledge of:
- Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) legislation and its application in operational environments
- Financial forensics – understanding networks and proceeds of crime trade
- Senior Leadership capability with proven management expertise:
- Team development within dynamic, high-stakes environments
- A mindset leading complex decision-making and strategic direction where needed
- Specialist critical-thinking to handle high volumes of complex data and evidence:
- Ability to translate intricate information to data-driven solutions
- Ability to excel in unstructured, but evidence-based methodologies
- Professional Accountability, demonstrating resilience, independence, efficiency, and compliance
- Minimal supervision needed with clear operational accountability
- Cross-partner collaborative experience across law enforcement and enforcement agencies:
- Proven track-record of influencing and delivering results across siloed structures
