About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) for an experienced Intelligence Analyst to join the Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU).
The successful applicant will:
- Collect, collate, evaluate, and analyse sensitive information from internal and external sources to investigate organised crime.
- Develop actionable intelligence products to support operational teams, enhance situational awareness, and assist in convictions.
- Produce evidential-quality analytical reports with peer review involvement.
- Work independently under pressure, building cross-agency relationships to strengthen intelligence-sharing.
- Support 24/7 response capabilities, including weekend on-call shifts (approx. 1 week every 8).
Key Responsibilities
- Handle highly sensitive data in compliance with law enforcement guidelines.
- Produce high-quality analytical outputs tailored to operational needs.
- Make evidence-based recommendations to direct investigation teams.
- Collaborate with partner agencies (e.g., National Crime Agency, Fraud Prevention Unit) to enhance intelligence.
- Engage with emerging technologies and trials to advance law enforcement capabilities.
- Represent ERSOU at interagency and regional forums.
About the Team
The Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU) is a dynamic team within ERSOU, focusing on:
- Supporting Force, ROCU, and multi-agency operations via advanced intelligence exploitation.
- Targeting highest harm areas (e.g., Organised Crime Groups (OCGs), terrorism risks).
- Pioneering future technologies and innovative methodologies.

Agile working principles are encouraged, though the role prioritises duty at design by ERSOU in Stevenage (5+ days/week) with operational travel as required.
ESOU Core Mission: Since 2010, ERSOU serves the 7 eastern region forces (led by Bedfordshire Police) as a regional counter-terrorism and organised crime response hub.
Who We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1-year experience as an analyst within law enforcement, with intelligence focus.
- Demonstrable proficiency in Windows-based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience in communications data analysis and CSAS/Chorus-like databases.
- Strong numeric/analytical and research skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
- Commitment to continuous learning to advance policing innovation.
Ideal candidate: A driven analyst passionate about targeting high-harm threats (e.g., OCGs, cybercrime) with a proven ability to synthesise complex data.
