About Novata

Novata is a public benefit corporation created and funded by a unique consortium of foundations and private sector companies including the Ford Foundation, the Omidyar Network, S&P Global, and Hamilton Lane. We are a for-profit, mission-driven company with the goal of empowering the private markets to build a more inclusive and sustainable form of capitalism. By bringing together the brightest minds in financial data, private equity, social justice, and inclusive capitalism, we aim to build the best technology and tools for the private markets to better collect, analyze, benchmark, and report sustainability data. We have an experienced and diverse team who are as ambitious about growing a successful company as we are about making an impact.

Novata is proud to have acquired Atlas Metrics to expand our global reach and expand our product innovation. Together, we make sustainability even simpler for private markets. Now, 400+ clients and over 13,000 companies worldwide count on Novata to make collecting, reporting, and acting on sustainability data easy.

Job Summary

This role sits within our Metrics & Regulations team, part of Novata's Legal team. You'll be embedded in a cross-functional department that works closely with Novata's Product, Customer Success, Revenue, and Marketing teams.

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining Novata's Metric Library — an extensive collection of more than 5,000 sustainability metrics spanning global standards, frameworks, and regulations that our clients use and interact with through the Novata platform. You'll help shape how sustainability reporting and policy are embedded into the platform, incorporate advancements in regulatory standards and frameworks, and support clients in making use of the data they collect on Novata. This is a chance to work at the intersection of technology and sustainability, helping shape Novata's research and data product offerings. With Novata's growing footprint across European markets, this role carries a particular focus on the regulatory and reporting landscape in the EMEA region.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leverage data analytics and AI tools to drive product decision-making, support benchmarking, and help clients draw insights and take action on the data collected on Novata.
  • Serve as the ESG product subject-matter-expert (SME) for sustainability regulations, ESG standards, and frameworks (both internally and externally for our clients).
  • Research industry best practices on data collection and stay on top of regulatory advancements to support the development of sustainability metrics and enhance Novata’s metric library and metric creation strategy.
  • Research ESG developments including standards developments, regulatory changes, and best practices across industry.
  • Liaise with Customer Success and support client requests and questions around sustainability metrics, custom metric development, and metric guidance.
  • Help build out and maintain the regulatory content behind Novata's Regulatory Navigator – owning the accuracy of the regulation catalog by verifying content against official sources, keeping effective dates and regulatory guidance current, and tracking EU member-state transposition of directives such as CSRD and CSDDD.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
